Israeli intelligence reportedly assessed that Iran moved thousands of nuclear centrifuges into Pickaxe Mountain, placing them deep underground and complicating potential airstrikes.
The Wall Street Journal, citing US and Israeli officials, reported that Israel shared the intelligence with Washington.
According to the report, Israeli intelligence indicates that Tehran moved the centrifuges last fall after the 12-day war in June 2025.
During that conflict, the United States deployed B-52 bombers to strike Iranian underground nuclear facilities.
The reported relocation could make the centrifuges harder to detect and target during future military operations.
US President Donald Trump recently suggested that Pickaxe Mountain could become a potential target.
“We see no activity there,” Trump said, while discussing Iran’s nuclear programme and the facility.
However, he also indicated that the United States could potentially strike the site in the near future.
The reported developments have raised fresh concerns about Iran’s nuclear activities and the protection of its sensitive infrastructure.
Meanwhile, satellite imagery reportedly showed trucks moving in and out of the Pickaxe Mountain facility.
CNN reported earlier this month that the activity could indicate Iranian efforts to rebuild or restore nuclear facilities.
The latest intelligence assessment comes amid continued tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States.
Furthermore, the reported movement of centrifuges could complicate efforts to monitor Iran’s nuclear programme.
