Tehran Calls for International Condemnation of Recent Attacks
Iranโs Foreign Ministry on Thursday declared that recent US military strikes have effectively rendered the April 8 ceasefire meaningless, warning that Washington will bear responsibility for the consequences of what it described as a dangerous escalation in the region.
In a strongly worded statement, the ministry condemned the strikes as large-scale attacks on Iranian territory and accused the United States of violating the United Nations Charter and fundamental principles of international law. Furthermore, Iranian officials urged the international community to respond to the latest developments and prevent further instability.
The ministry also alleged that the United States used facilities and territory in regional countries to conduct military operations against Iran. Consequently, Tehran warned that any state allowing its territory to be used for such actions could be viewed as a partner in aggression. Iranian authorities urged neighboring countries to prevent their soil from being used for hostile activities against the Islamic Republic.
Iran Rejects Claims of Military Weakness
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry called on United Nations member states and the UN Security Council to explicitly condemn what it described as violations committed by the United States and Israel. It also urged UN Secretary-General Antรณnio Guterres to provide a clear assessment of the situation and its implications for regional peace and security.
Separately, Iranโs armed forces rejected US claims that Iranian air defense systems had been destroyed during recent operations. Military spokesperson Abolfazl Shekarchi described such reports as propaganda and insisted that Iranโs military capabilities remain fully intact.
Officials Highlight Strategic Options
Shekarchi stated that Iran remains militarily prepared and stronger than at the beginning of the conflict. He further claimed that Iranian forces had inflicted greater losses on US forces than they had sustained themselves.
Additionally, he reaffirmed Tehranโs support for allied regional groups known as the โresistance front.โ He also stressed that Iran retains multiple strategic options, including influence over key maritime chokepoints, while noting that any future decisions would be revealed only if circumstances require them.
