Government says official inventory showed no private wealth or financial holdings
The Iranian government has released what it described as the official details of the late Supreme Leader’s personal assets ahead of his burial, portraying his lifestyle as one of simplicity after decades in senior leadership positions.
According to the statement, the declared assets consisted of an old Suzuki pickup truck and household furniture, which officials said was destroyed during recent US and Israeli missile strikes. The government further stated that the inventory contained no real estate, bank accounts, villas, private companies, corporate shares or offshore funds.
Officials said the disclosure was intended to provide transparency regarding the late leader’s personal estate following his death. The government noted that he served in senior state positions for nearly five decades, including as president and later as Supreme Leader.
Officials describe lifestyle as modest
In the statement, Iranian authorities said the late leader never accumulated personal wealth despite leading a country with significant energy and industrial resources. The government also said he remained a prominent religious figure who received widespread public support throughout his leadership.
Officials asserted that he rejected opportunities for personal financial gain and instead maintained what they described as a modest lifestyle until his death. They further claimed that the destruction of his household belongings during the recent conflict left few remaining personal possessions.
Statement includes political criticism
Alongside the asset disclosure, the government used the announcement to praise the late leader’s political legacy and commitment to supporting regional causes, including Palestine and Lebanon. The statement also contrasted his reported financial circumstances with those of other international and regional leaders, while accusing the United States and Israel of responsibility for the missile strike that destroyed his residence and belongings.
The government further said the late leader remained committed to his political and ideological positions despite sanctions, international pressure and repeated security threats.
Iranian authorities have not released independent documentation supporting the asset declaration, and the figures contained in the statement have not been independently verified.
