Iran claimed on Sunday that it launched a large-scale drone attack against two major US military facilities in Kuwait. At the same time, new reports suggested Tehran has upgraded its missile technology to make interception more difficult.
The developments have renewed attention on Iranโs military capabilities. They also highlight growing tensions across the Middle East. However, the claims regarding the attacks have not been independently verified.
Iran Says US Military Facilities Were Targeted
In a statement shared on Telegram, the Iranian army said it targeted the Al Adairi military camp and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
Iran described the operation as retaliation for repeated US attacks, civilian casualties, and damage to infrastructure inside the country.
According to the statement, Iranian forces struck a US ammunition depot at Al Adairi military camp. The statement also claimed that Patriot radar systems and an air surveillance radar at Ali Al Salem Air Base were targeted.
Iran described Al Adairi as a major US logistics and support hub. It said the facility is located about 100 kilometres from Iranโs border.
Meanwhile, Ali Al Salem Air Base was identified as a key gateway for American military air operations in the region.
Neither the United States nor Kuwait immediately responded to these claims. Moreover, the reported strikes could not be independently confirmed.
Report Highlights Changes in Iranโs Missile Strategy
A separate report suggested Iran has significantly improved its missile capabilities. According to the report, Tehran is deploying faster missiles that can manoeuvre during their final descent.
These advanced flight characteristics could make interception more difficult for existing American air defence systems.
The report also stated that Iran has restored more than half of its pre-war missile inventory. It claimed this recovery has been made possible through an extensive network of underground “missile city” facilities.
As a result, Iran can reportedly replenish its missile stockpiles more quickly. This capability could also help sustain future military operations if required.
Underground Facilities Strengthen Missile Production
The report suggested that underground missile facilities play an important role in Iranโs defence strategy.
These sites reportedly allow weapons to be stored, produced, and prepared while remaining protected from potential attacks.
Consequently, officials believe Iran has improved its ability to maintain missile supplies during prolonged conflicts.
Recent Attack Raises Security Concerns
The report also referred to the recent attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
According to US officials cited in the report, the attack killed two American service members and wounded several others.
The base is protected by the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) system. Previously, the system had successfully intercepted Iranian missile threats in the region.
Officials believe the incident demonstrates how Iran’s missile technology continues to evolve.
Questions Remain Over Possible Foreign Assistance
The report further stated that some US officials suspect Iran may be receiving foreign assistance to improve its missile operations.
Possible support from China or Russia was mentioned, particularly regarding targeting capabilities.
However, the report also noted that no public evidence has been presented to support these claims.
