Marandi Claims Regional Military Preparations Are Already Underway
Iranian political analyst and professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi warned that another military confrontation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran could be approaching as regional tensions continue escalating.
Speaking during a lengthy discussion on regional security and diplomacy, Marandi argued that military preparations across the Middle East suggest the possibility of renewed conflict remains serious.
Furthermore, he pointed to the presence of American troops in Kuwait, fighter jets stationed in Qatar, and military equipment positioned for potential ground operations as signs that the region is already heavily militarised.
“If I was a betting man, which I’m not, I would not bet against war,” Marandi said while discussing the growing tensions.
He also claimed that efforts toward de-escalation may fail because major decision-makers are acting emotionally rather than strategically.
Meanwhile, Marandi questioned whether political leaders in Washington possess the willingness to prevent another regional conflict despite mounting risks.
Diplomacy, Hormuz and Gulf Tensions Dominate Discussion
During the interview, Marandi discussed several issues, including negotiations involving US President Donald Trump, the Strait of Hormuz, and tensions with Gulf states.
Additionally, he argued that diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran may already be collapsing behind closed doors. He also described Trump as unpredictable because of his rapidly changing political positions.
Marandi further claimed Iran previously supported a ceasefire arrangement that Washington allegedly refused to accept.
At the same time, he suggested Iran’s position regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz may have changed permanently following recent confrontations.
The analyst also accused the United Arab Emirates of participating in attacks against Iran, while claiming Tehran responded by targeting Emirati-linked sites.
Moreover, Marandi alleged that a $1 million bounty was placed on him during the conflict.
