QUETTA: Iran Air resumed flights between Quetta and Zahedan following a temporary suspension. The revival of air link will strengthen trade, business cooperation and passenger travel between Pakistan and Iran.
Flight IRA 0827 landed at Quetta International Airport from Zahedan a day earlier before returning to the Iranian city with more than 80 passengers onboard.
The restoration of the service is expected to improve connectivity between Balochistan and Iran, offering traders, businesspeople and other passengers a more convenient travel option.
Meanwhile, representatives from both countries have discussed opportunities to expand bilateral trade and strengthen commercial partnerships. Zahedan Chamber of Commerce President Haji Hakim Regi met members of the Quetta business community to explore ways to improve cooperation between traders on both sides.
The renewed air connection could facilitate business visits, encourage commercial exchanges and support stronger economic relations between the neighbouring countries.
Iran Air originally launched routes connecting Quetta with Zahedan and Mashhad in December 2025. Balochistan Governor Jafar Khan Mandokhail inaugurated the services as part of efforts to improve regional connectivity and promote economic cooperation.
However, the airline subsequently suspended the flights amid the prevailing international situation.
The resumption of the Quetta-Zahedan service has raised expectations among the business community regarding improved travel facilities and expanded cross-border economic activity.
The restored route represents a step towards strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations, particularly by providing more direct access between Balochistan and Iran’s southeastern region.
