KARACHI: Investigators probing the murder of Mir Raza Ali have prepared a list of 10 people who allegedly lent money to the deceased.
According to investigative sources, authorities have compiled details about the lenders and amounts reportedly borrowed by Mir Raza.
Sources said Mir Raza allegedly borrowed more than Rs17.5 million from a person identified as Abid.
Another individual, identified as Moni, reportedly lent him Rs500,000.
Overall, investigators have gathered details of loans exceeding Rs50 million involving the 10 individuals.
Authorities will question everyone on the list as they investigate possible links to the murder.
Father raises torture allegations
Meanwhile, Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain Ali, claimed that his son knew the people he planned to meet had significant influence.
Speaking on an ARY News programme, he alleged that his son suffered severe torture before his death.
He further claimed that professionals were involved and that the victim was deliberately called to the location.
According to his father, Mir Raza was rendered unconscious before the alleged torture.
Mir Hussain also questioned discrepancies involving the medical report and said the Sindh inspector general had described an error in it.
Despite his concerns, he said he continued to trust police after authorities formed a new investigation team.
He said Amir Farooqui’s team had listened to the family’s concerns after 12 days.
Meanwhile, Mir Hussain demanded that Kamran Qureshi of Gulistan-e-Johar become part of the investigation rather than face suspension alone.
Investigators are continuing to examine financial dealings and other circumstances surrounding the case.
