Turkey : Hicabi Kirlangic, a Turkish envoy, has emphasized the urgent need for Islamic countries to step up their efforts in aiding Palestinians amidst the ongoing conflict with Israel. Speaking at the 24th Iran Media Exhibition, Kirlangic condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, labeling them as nothing short of genocide.
Expressing admiration for South Africa’s approach in exposing Israeli crimes, Kirlangic urged Islamic nations to follow suit by taking effective diplomatic measures. He stressed the importance of preventing further loss of Palestinian lives and emphasized that diplomatic efforts must be intensified.
Turkey, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has vocally condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, denouncing the regime as a “Terror State” responsible for war crimes and violations of international law. However, criticism has arisen domestically regarding the government’s failure to sever economic and trade ties with Israel, despite Erdogan’s strong stance.
Addressing concerns over Turkey’s trade relations with the occupied territories, Kirlangic acknowledged the discrepancies and highlighted the need for greater alignment between Turkey’s diplomatic rhetoric and its economic policies.
In addition to the Palestinian issue, Kirlangic expressed optimism about enhancing cooperation between Iran and Turkey, particularly in the realm of media. While acknowledging existing collaboration between media outlets from both countries, he emphasized the potential for further strengthening bilateral ties.
Turkish media outlets maintain a presence in Iran, while Iranian organizations and companies have established permanent offices in Ankara and Istanbul, facilitating mutual exchanges. Kirlangic stressed the importance of expanding cooperation across various sectors to foster closer relations between Iran and Turkey.
As tensions persist in the Middle East and the plight of Palestinians continues, Kirlangic’s remarks underscore the pressing need for concerted international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis and advocate for justice in the region.
