South Korea Halloween Stampede leaves 150 dead, 46 missing

According to officials, a crush amid large Halloween crowds in a well-known nightlife district in South Korea’s capital resulted in more than 100 deaths.

In the previous hour, the dead toll increased from 59 to 150, with local media reporting an additional 100 injuries.

Videos from the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul show body bags on the streets, first responders giving CPR, and rescuers attempting to free those pinned beneath other people.

Prime Minister of Pakistan statement

Prime minister of Pakistan Shahbaz sharif expressed deepest condolences in his tweet over this tragic incident in south Korea.

The cause of the crush is unknown.

Yoon Suk-yeol, the president of South Korea, has convened an urgent meeting.

The chief of Seoul’s Yongsan fire department, Choi Seong-beom, told the AP news agency that while 46 people were still missing, 13 remains had been taken to a hospital.

Crowded Area Felt unsafe

100,000 people allegedly attended the first outdoor no-mask Halloween celebration in the area since the outbreak.

Some individuals commented that the Itaewon neighbourhood was so crowded that it felt unsafe in social media posts from earlier in the evening.

Hosu Lee of the BBC reported that he observed “a lot of medical workers, a lot of ambulances, and they were bringing the bodies away one by one” at the scene.

In addition to a “lot of cops,” Mr. Lee claimed that there were thousands of people in the throng and several bodies covered in blue blankets.

“There are a lot of young individuals here tonight. Many individuals arrived at the party and club dressed as characters, and I noticed many of them to be upset and dejected.

Both emergency personnel and bystanders are seen ministering to what appear to be unconscious people on the streets in photos and videos.
On one video, it appears that many emergency personnel are giving CPR to residents in the neighborhood’s short lane.
In another, following a crowd surge, emergency personnel attempt to free individuals from what looks to be a mass of bodies.
Another local journalist said that there had been “an emergency accident at Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon,” and that a broadcast had been sent to every mobile phone in the Yongsan District asking residents to head home as soon as possible.
