Saudi Arabia launches Skills Verification Program for job seekers from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh

Skills Verification

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has introduced Skills Verification Program for certain international workers.

They have recently announced the launch of the Skill Verification Program (SVP) in Sri Lanka. The program will focus on five out of the 23 targeted professional specializations.

These specializations encompass plumbing, electricity, automotive electricity, automotive mechanics, as well as refrigeration and air conditioning.

The expansion of the SVP into Sri Lanka is part of the ministry’s broader efforts to reach out internationally. It is an outcome of the SVP’s successful launches in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh.

The main objective of this program is to verify the skills of workers, enhance the quality of professional work. It will increase productivity, and address the issue of unqualified labor entering the job market in Saudi Arabia.

To obtain the SVP certificate, the ministry has provided detailed instructions for interested individuals. The process involves registering on the SVP portal, scheduling a theoretical and practical test. The applicants will also confirm the necessary details with the test supervisors before proceeding to the examination.

Upon successful completion of the evaluation, the professional worker will be issued the SVP certificate. This certificate will be considered an additional requirement during the recruitment process.

The SVP forms an integral part of the “Professional Accreditation System,” which aims to regulate the job market and elevate the overall quality of the workforce in line with the labor market strategy in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia summons Sweden’s diplomat

The Saudi Arabian foreign ministry summoned Sweden’s Envoy and issued a strong condemnation of the Swedish authorities. Saudi Arabia protested against repeatedly granting official permits to extremists, allowing them to burn and desecrate copies of the Holy Qur’an.

The ministry stated that this act was a systematic provocation of the feelings of millions of Muslims worldwide.

Protesters, including Salwan Momika, an Iraqi immigrant to Sweden burned the Qur’an outside a Stockholm mosque in June. He had received permission from the Swedish police to carry out the burning outside the Iraqi embassy on Thursday.
