Saudi Arabia did not participate in intercepting Iranian drones and missiles during attack on israel

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has denied its participation in intercepting Iranian drones and missiles during attack on Israel.

Sources told Al Arabiya that Saudi Arabia did not participate in intercepting Iranian drones and missiles on Saturday.

Earlier, Israeli news websites had published statements attributed to an official Saudi website stating that the Kingdom participated in the recent defense coalition that confronted the Iranian attacks, according to Arab News.

“There is no official website that published a statement about Saudi participation in intercepting attacks against Israel,” the sources told Al Arabiya.

Iran launched drones and missiles toward Israel on Saturday evening into Sunday morning and described the attack as a response to several crimes, including the strike on its consulate in Damascus on April 1.

Tehran indicated that the attack targeted military targets, while the Israeli army announced that it intercepted 99 percent of the Iranian missiles.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s King Abdullah II emphasized the imperative for his country to avoid being drawn into a broader regional conflict, following Jordan’s interception of multiple missiles and drones during Iran’s recent attack on Israel.

He reiterated Jordan’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing its security and sovereignty above all else, emphasizing that its actions were aimed at safeguarding its own borders rather than aligning with Israel.

Over the weekend, Jordan joined other nations in assisting Israel in repelling missiles, rockets, and attack drones launched by Iran and its allies.

Earlier the same day, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi called for the international community to prevent Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from diverting attention away from Gaza by escalating tensions with Iran.
