The Russian military has deployed additional forces to counter Ukrainian troops in the southwestern Kursk region, according to Defense Ministry-affiliated media reports on Friday.
The Zvezda broadcaster released footage showing army trucks and other military vehicles crossing into the Kursk region.
“The marching columns include [BM-21] Grad multiple rocket launcher combat vehicles, tanks on trailers, towed artillery, heavy tracked vehicles, as well as Ural and Kamaz vehicles,” Zvezda reported.
Citing the Russian Defense Ministry, Zvezda added that these columns were moving to reinforce forces actively engaged in combat with Ukrainian militants in the Sudzhansky district.
The independent investigative outlet Agentstvo identified, using road signs, that at least one column had arrived from the neighboring Belgorod region and another from the Russian-occupied Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
Ukrainian troops crossed into Russia early Tuesday, advancing deeper into the Kursk region despite Russian claims of successfully repelling the attack.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed earlier on Friday that it had killed 945 Ukrainian troops and destroyed over 100 armored vehicles since the incursion began. Officials stated that up to 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers had initially participated in the surprise attack.
The Defense Ministry also announced on Telegram that Su-25 and Su-34 fighter jets had targeted Ukrainian troops and military equipment in the Kursk region.
Meanwhile, pro-war military bloggers shared an unverified video on Friday that allegedly showed a Russian military convoy destroyed by Ukrainian forces northwest of Sudzha, the town most affected by the fighting.
Russia’s military has not commented on its equipment losses or casualties in the four days of clashes.
