According to RIA, Russia’s state-run news agency, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that supplying Pakistan with pipeline gas is feasible and that some of the necessary infrastructures already exists.
The meeting took place today in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on the outskirts of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, between President Putin and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The prime minister arrived in the Uzbek capital on September 15 for the annual meeting of the SCO’s Council of Heads of State (CHS), and on September 16, they met at a high level for a special session.
Following his meeting with Putin, the prime minister met with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan.
Both regional and global issues were discussed, as was the mutually beneficial nature of the two presidents’ discussions.
As a result of climate change, Pakistan was hit by devastating floods, and the country’s prime minister expressed gratitude to Tajikistan for its aid to those affected.
The prime minister emphasized the significance of establishing mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of energy projects and holding frequent meetings to discuss bilateral institutional structures.
He further reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to completing the crucial “CASA-1000” power transmission project on schedule.
