Prime Minister Shehbaz says Pakistan-US relations back to normal

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan aims to enhance its bilateral relations with the US across various domains. He noted that the ties between the two nations have returned to normalcy.

At a ceremony celebrating the US Independence Day, he emphasized the efforts to improve their bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a commitment, both in his capacity as the head of the government and as a Pakistani citizen, to foster improved and stronger relations with the US founded on mutual trust and respect.

Recognizing the historical journey, he acknowledged that the two countries have been enduring friends despite experiencing ups and downs.

He emphasized that the US is Pakistan’s largest trading partner and a reliable ally in the fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted that Pakistan had suffered an immense loss of 80,000 individuals in the fight against terrorism. This unparalleled sacrifice demonstrated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment, with the US serving as a significant supporter and partner in this endeavor.

He highlighted that five years ago, Pakistan addressed power outages by setting up 5,000 MW LNG power plants with equipment from the US.

The Prime Minister emphasized the vast potential for both countries to expand their ties in various fields.

He recognized Pakistan’s talent and youth as challenges that can become opportunities with US support and cooperation.

PM Shehbaz thanked the US for aid during floods, acknowledging it as the largest donor offering vital relief to millions.

He extended his felicitations to President Joe Biden, the American people, and the US government on their 247th Independence Day while expressing anticipation for future visits by high-powered US delegations to further enhance cooperation.

Ambassador Donald Blome highlighted the expanding economic partnership, with the US as a major investor and Pakistan’s primary export market. He highlighted the significant progress made during ministerial meetings in expanding market access between the two countries.
