Pakistani Man Deported from Dubai After Altercation with Indian Resident

DUBAI: A disagreement over a parking space in Dubai’s Tecom area turned violent, leading to a serious legal consequence for one of the individuals involved. The incident occurred on February 8, 2023, between a 70-year-old Pakistani man and a 34-year-old Indian man, both of whom were residents in the same building.

The altercation began when the Pakistani man took a parking spot that the Indian man intended to use, escalating into a heated argument. In the ensuing confrontation, the Pakistani man pushed the Indian man to the ground. The fall resulted in the Indian man suffering a fractured tibia in his left leg, along with nerve damage, muscle atrophy, and permanent 50% loss of functionality, according to medical reports.

In response, the Indian man struck the Pakistani man on the head, causing injuries that left the latter unable to carry out daily activities for around 20 days. Authorities swiftly intervened, arresting both men. The case was brought before the Dubai Criminal Court, where forensic evidence and witness testimonies, including statements from both men and an on-site investigator, were presented. The Pakistani man admitted to pushing the Indian man, but claimed it was in response to verbal provocation.

The court found the Pakistani man guilty of assault and causing permanent disability, sentencing him to three months in prison followed by deportation. The charges against the Indian man were deemed less severe and transferred to the Misdemeanor Court for further action. This case serves as a reminder of how seemingly minor disputes can escalate into violence with significant legal consequences in the UAE.
