Pakistan sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine on Tuesday at the country’s request.
Radio Pakistan reports that a C-130 took flight today to carry more than 7.5 tonnes of aid to Ukraine. 7.5 tonnes will be sent on Friday (June 3).
“As a responsible and peace-loving country, Pakistan has always responded quickly to worldwide appeals for aid during wars and tragedies,” it was reported officially.
Medicines, medical equipment, beds, and food were sent.
In March, two C-130s from Noor Khan Base delivered 15 tonnes of humanitarian goods to Ukraine. The Ukrainian embassy in Islamabad requested humanitarian aid and a list of urgently needed commodities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had urged that Pakistan offer humanitarian aid to Ukraine and advised that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) mobilise non-military supplies sought by the Ukrainian embassy and organise their transit.
It also sent a formal report to the prime minister requesting aid for Ukraine.
Because of Russia and Ukraine’s military escalation, millions of refugees, largely women and children, have fled to Poland and other neighbouring nations.
Due to the escalating situation, Ukraine appealed for worldwide humanitarian aid.
