On Sunday, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised the introduction of a new tactical ballistic missile system to the Korean People’s Army, according to state media KCNA.
The event, held in Pyongyang, featured Kim delivering a speech and unveiling 250 newly developed tactical ballistic missile launchers.
State media described these launchers as state-of-the-art tactical attack weapons, which Kim personally designed. The new systems are now set to be integrated into KPA units. Last month, North Korea had already tested its latest tactical ballistic missile, showcasing its commitment to advancing its missile capabilities.
During his speech, Kim Jong Un highlighted the importance of enhancing the country’s nuclear readiness. He emphasized that strengthening North Korea’s nuclear arsenal is crucial for deterring potential threats and responding effectively to any challenges.
Kim reiterated his belief that a robust stockpile of nuclear weapons is the most reliable way to counter what he described as nuclear threats and external pressure, particularly from the United States.
Kim also asserted that North Korea’s peace and security are guaranteed by its “absolute and unmatched self-defense capability.” This statement underscores his position that the country’s military advancements are essential for maintaining stability and protecting against perceived external threats.
The introduction of these new missile launchers reflects North Korea’s ongoing efforts to bolster its military capabilities and enhance its strategic deterrence. The move underscores Kim’s continued focus on advancing the nation’s defense infrastructure amid ongoing regional tensions and international scrutiny.
