MAGA billionaire Elon Musk has donated approximately $75 million to his pro-Donald Trump political action committee, America PAC, over the past three months, according to new Federal Election Commission filings.
This significant contribution places Musk among the Republican Party’s top financial supporters, alongside donors like Miriam Adelson, who contributed $95 million to her own pro-Trump PAC during the same timeframe.
America PAC has already spent around $72 million from July to September, focusing on grassroots efforts rather than high-profile ad campaigns.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the world’s richest man, is also planning a tour in Pennsylvania to hold a series of “talks” aimed at rallying voters while collecting valuable personal data for get-out-the-vote initiatives.
He announced the events on his social media platform, X, stating, “Tomorrow night through Monday, I will be giving a series of talks throughout Pennsylvania. If you’d like to attend, there’s no fee; you just need to have signed our petition supporting free speech and the right to bear arms, and have voted in this election.”
To attend, participants must sign a symbolic “Petition in Favor of Free Speech and the Right to Bear Arms,” providing their name, email, phone number, and mailing address. This petition serves as a strategic way to gather voter data, which is crucial for campaigns like Musk’s America PAC.
The PAC is primarily focused on boosting voter turnout in swing states like Pennsylvania, where Musk is actively campaigning alongside Trump.
Musk’s PAC is vital to Trump’s election efforts, especially as Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has outpaced Trump’s in fundraising, having raised over $1 billion since she became the Democratic nominee less than three months ago. This makes Musk’s support critical for Trump in battleground states.
Other billionaires backing Trump include Illinois businessman Richard Uihlein and Wyoming banking heir Timothy Mellon.
However, despite Musk’s significant financial contributions, reports indicate that America PAC has faced internal challenges, including difficulties in hiring and retaining canvassers in key states like Arizona and Nevada due to Musk’s hands-on management style.
As the 2024 election nears, Musk’s America PAC is intensifying its efforts to mobilize voters in crucial swing states, potentially influencing the election’s outcome.
