Lord Nazir Ahmed, a former British legislator of Pakistani heritage, was found guilty by a British court on Wednesday of sexually abusing two youngsters in the 1970s.
As reported by the BBC, a court held Lord Ahmed guilty of a violent sexual assault on a boy and of an attempt to rape a young girl. The repeated sexual abuse occurred in Rotherham, Yorkshire, when the former MP was just a teenager, according to a testimony presented at Sheffield Crown Court.
The 64-year-old had vehemently negated the accusations. He will be sentenced by Mr Justice Lavender at a later date.
Prosecutor Tom Little informed the court that in the early 1970s, Nazir Ahmed tried to rape the girl, who was much younger at the time. In the same time-frame, a little boy, under the age of 11, was attacked.
However, a phone recording from a 2016 conversation between the two victims shows that the charges were not “made-up or fabricated,” according to Mr Little.
The male victim had sent her an email saying, “I have evidence against that paedophile,” which encouraged her to call.
