TEHRAN: Hossein Taeb, the former head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization and current advisor to the IRGC chief commander, has stated that Iran’s impending response to Israel will be both unexpected and significant. He mentioned that the retaliation for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh will be unpredictable and shocking.
Speaking during a meeting with officials and members of the Basij force in Mashhad on Sunday, Taeb highlighted that this retribution would involve a newly devised and surprising strategy, stressing that Iran is always ready to confront threats and defend its rights.
Regarding Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s attempts to gain U.S. support by emphasizing military threats involving Lebanon and Iran, Taeb remarked that any new conflict in the region would only intensify pressures and internal challenges for the United States.
He further noted that President Biden’s efforts to steer Netanyahu toward a diplomatic solution have so far been unsuccessful. Taeb explained that while Netanyahu hoped to drag the U.S. into a broader conflict, American leaders limited their support to targeted actions against Hezbollah and Hamas commanders, resisting attempts to escalate these actions into a regional war.
Taeb also asserted that both Netanyahu and his political opponents now believe that Israel is nearing a point of collapse, predicting that if the current trajectory continues, the Zionist regime’s government may not survive beyond 2028.
He emphasized that Netanyahu, along with far-right and conservative factions, recognizes that Israel may not last until its 80th anniversary and must seek new solutions to the challenges it faces.
