India has reached a milestone of 2 billion COVID immunizations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the immunization milestone, honoring the world’s largest and longest-running inoculation campaign, which began last year.

Once again, India makes history. A tweet from Modi read as follows. The prime minister has faced claims from the opposition of mishandling the pandemic that experts claim killed millions.

A total of 525,709 people has died from COVID, according to the Health Ministry’s data, and 49 more people have died today.

According to information collated by Reuters, the number of newly reported cases has increased by 20,528 in the last 24 hours, reaching a new level not seen since February 20.

The 1.35-billion-people nation has eased most COVID-related travel restrictions, and overseas tourism is booming again.

The domestically produced vaccine, Covishield, from AstraZeneca (AZN.L) accounts for almost 80% of all vaccinations. Covaxin and Corbevaxin are two others, along with Russia’s Sputnik V. Assam, West Bengal, and Karnataka, three states in the Indian subcontinent’s eastern region, have seen an uptick in the federal government’s boosting push to stop the spread of infection.
