UAE’s Visa
The Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai have announced an enhanced range of support and services for Pakistani nationals residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in light of the UAE’s newly launched visa amnesty scheme.
This initiative, which began on September 1, 2024, and will run through October 31, 2024, is designed to assist residents with expired visas in legalizing their status or returning to Pakistan without incurring penalties.
The UAE government’s amnesty scheme offers a crucial opportunity for undocumented residents, including tourists and those who have overstayed their visas, to either regularize their stay or exit the country without facing future travel bans.
This scheme aims to address the challenges faced by those with expired visas by providing a legal pathway to resolve their status without legal repercussions.
In response to this initiative, the Pakistani diplomatic missions in the UAE have adjusted their operations to offer maximum assistance to the Pakistani community.
A statement from the Pakistani missions underscored their commitment to supporting the UAE government’s efforts and encouraged all eligible Pakistani nationals to take full advantage of the amnesty scheme.
“The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai are extending all possible assistance to Pakistani nationals living in the UAE to ensure that they can benefit fully from the UAE government’s amnesty scheme,” the statement read.
To accommodate the anticipated increase in demand, the Pakistani missions will remain open on Saturdays throughout the duration of the amnesty period.
The services provided include the renewal and issuance of National Identity Cards (NICs), passport processing, attestation services, and the issuance of out-passes or emergency travel documents for those lacking valid passports.
This development is particularly significant given the sizable Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, which constitutes the second-largest expatriate community in the Emirates, with approximately 1.7 million residents.
The amnesty scheme is expected to bring substantial relief to those struggling with expired visas, offering them a chance to either regularize their immigration status or return to Pakistan without the burden of legal consequences.
The diplomatic missions have reiterated their dedication to supporting the Pakistani community during this pivotal time.
“The Embassy and Consulate General of Pakistan remain fully committed to supporting fellow Pakistani community members during this period,” the statement concluded.
This commitment highlights the importance of this amnesty scheme and the role of the Pakistani missions in facilitating the process for their nationals in the UAE.
