The federal government of Pakistan has unveiled plans to introduce the “Laptop for All” scheme aimed at providing laptops to students across the country. Rana Mashhood, the chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), made this announcement during a press conference. Under this initiative, students will have access to laptops through interest-free loans from banks.
Mashhood highlighted the government’s commitment to facilitating students with interest-free laptops, with decisions expected within the next few days. Despite financial challenges and existing International Monetary Fund (IMF) conditions, the government is determined to include the “Laptop for All” scheme in the upcoming fiscal budget.
The chairman explained that logistical constraints, including the transition between interim and present governments, contributed to the delay in providing laptops to students last year. However, with the current government in place and adequate time for budget preparation, efforts are underway to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative.
The “Laptop for All” scheme is part of the government’s broader efforts to support education and empower youth across Pakistan. By providing students with access to laptops, the government aims to enhance digital literacy, improve educational outcomes, and prepare students for success in an increasingly digital world.
This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to invest in human capital development and promote inclusive growth. By leveraging partnerships with banks and prioritizing student access to technology, the government demonstrates its commitment to fostering innovation and creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders in Pakistan.
