Emmanuel Macron stated that repeated calls for a ceasefire are going unheard amid the emergence of a new front in Lebanon. On Saturday, the French President urged for a halt to arms deliveries to Israel, which has faced criticism for its actions during the retaliatory operation in Gaza.
“I believe the priority now is to return to a political solution and stop supplying weapons for the fighting in Gaza,” Macron told broadcaster France Inter, emphasizing that France is not sending arms to Israel. He expressed his ongoing concern about the Gaza conflict, which continues despite multiple calls for a ceasefire. “I feel we are not being heard, and that is a mistake for Israel’s security,” he said, adding that the situation is fostering “hatred.”
Macron also highlighted the importance of preventing escalation in Lebanon, stating, “Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza.”
