Five People killed in clashes between Hindus and Muslims in the Indian state of Haryana

ISLAMABAD:  Clashes between Hindus and Muslims erupted in the Indian state of Haryana near New Delhi, resulting in the death of five people, including a Naib imam of a mosque in Gurgaon, and leaving over 50 others injured.

The violence was triggered when a Hindu religious procession passed through the Muslim-dominated Nuh region. Located around 50 kilometers away from the country’s capital.

According to Krishan Kumar, the spokesperson of Nuh police, the procession was intended to move from one temple to another. But clashes erupted between the two groups along the way.

Among the deceased were two members of the home guard, a voluntary force aiding police in controlling civil disturbances. While 10 police personnel were injured in the riots.

The violence later spread to neighbouring Gurugram where a mosque was torched around midnight, resulting in one death and one injury.

In response to the situation, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij announced the imposition of a curfew in the district on Tuesday, with the closure of schools and colleges.

While the situation in the region remains tense, there have been no reports of fresh violence. Security has been increased in Nuh and other areas.

The Gurgaon Police stated on Tuesday morning that the attackers. Those who torched the mosque have been identified, and several of them have been apprehended.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on the messaging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), condemned the incident. Imposed curfew orders while shutting off internet services. He assured that the guilty will face the strictest action and not be spared.
