A tragic bus accident in Saudi Arabia resulted in the deaths of five Pakistani Umrah pilgrims, including three women, while they were traveling back to Madina from the historical site of Badr.
Initial reports reveal that the deceased, as well as the majority of the passengers, hailed from Bahawalnagar district in Pakistan. Among the victims were Rukhsana Bibi and Amina Bibi from 228/9-R, Fort Abbas, two women from Dahran Wala, and an elderly man, Manzoor Hussain, from 39/3-R.
Several others sustained injuries and were transferred to hospitals in Madina for medical care.
Muhammad Khalid, a relative of the victims, shared, “My sister and two cousins died in the bus crash while on their way to Madina from Badr.”
Hospital officials reported that four of the injured, including two women, are being treated at the Saudi-German Hospital, while three others (including two women) are at King Fahd Hospital. One woman is being cared for at King Salman Hospital. Additionally, two of the deceased have been moved to both the Saudi-German and King Fahd hospitals.
Pakistan’s Consul General Khalid Majeed stated that the Pakistani consular team is providing assistance to the injured and is coordinating with the Umrah sponsor. Relatives of the victims have confirmed that the bodies will be buried in Saudi Arabia.
