CIA officer sentenced to 30 years in prison for drugging and sexually assaulting more than 24 women

A former CIA officer, Brian Jeffrey Raymond, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for drugging, photographing, and sexually assaulting over 24 women during his international assignments.

The 48-year-old appeared in court visibly remorseful as U.S. Senior Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly labeled him a “sexual predator.”

Raymond’s assaults began in 2006. He lured women from dating apps to his government-leased apartment, where he served them wine and snacks laced with drugs. Once they were unconscious, he photographed and assaulted them.

During the emotional hearing, several victims recounted their traumatic experiences. One victim stated, “My body looks like a corpse on his bed,” highlighting the nightmares she faced after discovering the photographs.

Many victims emphasized the lasting emotional damage caused by Raymond’s actions. One victim expressed, “I hope he is haunted by the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life.”

In his statement to the court, Raymond acknowledged his wrongdoing, saying, “It betrayed everything I stand for, and I know no apology will ever be enough.”

This sentencing comes amid heightened scrutiny of sexual misconduct within the CIA, with a recent internal report revealing systemic failures in addressing such complaints.

Raymond pleaded guilty to four out of 25 federal charges, including sexual abuse and coercion, and has been ordered to pay $10,000 to each of his 28 victims.
