New Delhi: A bomb threat sent via email to over 40 schools in Delhi, including DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar, caused panic among students and staff. The email, received late Sunday night, claimed multiple bombs had been planted in school buildings and demanded $30,000 for their defusal.
The message warned of potential injuries, stating, “The bombs are small and well-hidden… It will not cause much damage to the buildings, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate.”
In response to the threats, Delhi Police deployed bomb detection teams, dog squads, and local officers to conduct comprehensive searches at the targeted schools. No suspicious items have been found, and the threat has been confirmed as a hoax. Investigators are now tracing the email’s IP address to identify the sender.
Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi reassured the public, saying, “We are working to ensure the safety of all children and will take immediate action against the perpetrator.”
The incident has sparked strong criticism of the central government’s handling of law and order in the capital. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned Home Minister Amit Shah over the increasing insecurity, stating, “The people of Delhi have never seen such a poor state of law and order before.”
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP leader Manish Sisodia also condemned the deteriorating security situation. Sisodia expressed concerns over the safety of children, asking, “If the national capital is not safe, what is the central government doing?”
This bomb hoax follows a similar incident in October, when CRPF schools were targeted, raising further concerns about public safety. Delhi Police continues to investigate the matter and ensure accountability to prevent such incidents in the future.
