Just a few days after another severe quake that killed two people and caused extensive damage to hundreds of buildings throughout the country, Mexico had an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 early Today.
As the earthquake warning sounded and buildings shook, residents of Mexico City rushed outside of their homes.
There were no immediate reports of damage in the city, according to Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, who later stated on Twitter.
The quake was reported at a depth of 20.7 km (12.9 miles), somewhat deeper than Monday’s temblor.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) first gave it a magnitude of 7.0.
