K-Electric has launched a firm crackdown against power theft in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. The operation removed more than 120 illegal connections that were draining electricity from the system. Nearly 1,900 kilograms of unlawful wiring was dismantled during the drive. These steps aimed to protect the network from heavy losses and ensure fair electricity access for paying consumers.
Illegal Wiring Network Removed After Years of Losses
Authorities targeted high-theft pockets around Pink Residency and Rashdi Goth. A large network of illegal cables had been stealing almost 400,000 electricity units every year. The loss was valued at over PKR 17 million. This removal marked a major step toward reducing long-term damage to the grid. Law enforcement agencies supported the effort, which also extended to locations near the airport.
KE Says Crackdown Restores Fairness for Consumers
A spokesperson for K-Electric stated that the operation aimed to protect the stability of the power network. He noted that removing illegal wiring helps prevent future losses. He added that the initiative also brings fairness to those who regularly pay their bills. Facilitation camps were set up in the area to help consumers resolve overdue payments. They also assisted residents in applying for legal meter-based connections.
Customer Facilitation Camps Encourage Legal Connections
KE has been running numerous camps in the Jauhar locality. These camps guide residents toward lawful electricity usage. They help customers clear pending bills and enter installment arrangements when needed. People are also encouraged to convert illegal hookups into regulated meter connections. These efforts aim to reduce electricity theft significantly.
High-Loss Feeders Targeted in Focused Intervention
The crackdown mainly targeted high-loss feeders in a small section of the broader Jauhar network. Out of 61 feeders across the area, 47 remain free from load-shedding. KE emphasized that improving recoveries and reducing theft directly contributes to stable power availability. The company highlighted that timely bill payments also play a vital role in reducing outages.

The company has reiterated its dedication to ensuring a reliable energy supply for Karachi. It stressed that reducing theft is essential for the improvement of services. KE plans to continue similar interventions in other high-risk areas. These steps aim to limit financial losses and support consistent electricity distribution across the city.
