Report details suspected misuse of training, food, equipment and other funds as investigators recommend action against senior officials
LAHORE: An inquiry has uncovered alleged embezzlement involving around Rs200 million at Chung Police Training College in Lahore, prompting authorities to suspend senior officers and recommend disciplinary action against several officials.
According to the inquiry report, investigators detected major financial irregularities across multiple expenditure categories. The report alleged that officials misappropriated Rs169 million from funds collected or allocated under training fees, PERA and customs-related heads.
Moreover, investigators identified alleged embezzlement of Rs31 million from funds allocated for meals and income generated through the college canteen.
Inquiry Details Alleged Misuse Across Multiple Accounts
The inquiry further detected alleged irregularities involving Rs3.1 million allocated for stationery and computer supplies and Rs9 million associated with furniture and machinery.
Additionally, investigators reported suspected misappropriation of Rs250,000 allocated for tea and coffee, Rs2.7 million for transport and Rs1 million connected with building expenses.
Following the investigation, the inquiry recommended strict action against Deputy Superintendent of Police Shahid Javed and accountant Khalid. It also recommended action against Inspector Mohammad Asghar over allegations that he obtained forged signatures.
The report said subordinate personnel had received assignments involving administration, stores, buildings and stationery.
Contractor Accused of Using Fake Companies and Bills
Investigators also accused contractor Yasir Ayub of exercising extensive influence over the collegeโs financial operations and allegedly acting as a frontman for DIG Mahboob Aslam Lilla.
According to the report, Yasir allegedly established six companies and arranged bills under their names. Investigators claimed officials then used forged documents to obtain and process funds.
Furthermore, the inquiry alleged that DSP Shahid Javed implemented unlawful instructions from the commandant without objection.
Authorities have subsequently suspended DIG Mahboob Aslam Lilla and DSP Shahid Javed following the inquiryโs findings, while further disciplinary proceedings are expected.
