The incident briefly disrupted the speech before Sadiq continued his address.
The Jamaican Speaker, who was chairing the session, also intervened when a member of the Indian delegation continued speaking.
Ayaz Sadiq Calls for Climate Action
Sadiq called for stronger parliamentary leadership and international cooperation to address climate change.
He said climate adaptation requires fair financial support and effective democratic oversight.
He also highlighted challenges involving water availability and sudden changes in river flows.
The speaker said Pakistan is among the countries severely affected by climate change.
Parliament’s Role in Climate Policy
Sadiq stressed that parliaments must play a greater role in climate-related policymaking.
He called for parliamentary oversight of international climate finance.
He said such oversight would improve transparency and accountability.
He also highlighted Parliament’s role in legislation, budget oversight and committee work.
According to Sadiq, climate policies must translate into practical action.
Focus on Women and Youth
Sadiq called for greater participation from women, youth and other sections of society.
He urged Commonwealth parliaments to share climate policies, best practices and innovative solutions.
He said parliamentary discussions on global challenges should remain constructive and focused.
Sadiq also emphasized that climate change affects food security, water supplies and public health.
He called for stronger democratic institutions to help build resilient societies.
