Indian Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan has underscored that despite Pakistan’s economic challenges, its military remains formidable and poses a significant threat to India.
Addressing the India Today Conclave 2024, General Chauhan acknowledged Pakistan’s economic and political turbulence but emphasized that its military capabilities remain intact. He commended Pakistan, stating that “full marks” should be given to the adversary for maintaining its military strength despite economic hardships.
Highlighting the enduring threat posed by Pakistan, General Chauhan emphasized that the country’s military capabilities remain robust, making it a persistent concern for India. Despite economic difficulties, Pakistan’s armed forces have maintained their capabilities, making them a formidable adversary.
General Chauhan also pointed out the strategic challenges posed by India’s two neighboring countries, China and Pakistan, both of which possess nuclear capabilities. While acknowledging the nuclear threat from both nations, he singled out China as a more immediate challenge due to its rise and the unresolved border disputes.
In facing the dual challenges of China and Pakistan, General Chauhan emphasized the importance of India’s armed forces being strategically positioned. He stressed the need for precise prediction and strategic planning to ensure that Indian forces are positioned effectively to address emerging threats.
