The Pool D match took place in Amstelveen, Netherlands, on Wednesday. India finished second in the group behind England after the victory.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek scored two goals each for India. Hardik Singh added another goal through a penalty stroke.
Pakistan fought back strongly through Hannan Shahid and Sufyan Khan. However, India maintained control during crucial stages of the contest.
India Make Fast Start Against Pakistan
Harmanpreet opened the scoring in the fifth minute from a penalty corner. Abhishek then doubled Indiaโs advantage six minutes later.
Harmanpreet scored again in the 21st minute from another penalty-corner opportunity. Pakistan responded immediately through Hannan Shahid one minute later.
Abhishek restored Indiaโs three-goal advantage in the 24th minute. Sufyan Khan then converted a penalty corner before halftime.
India Hold Firm to Reach Second Round
India extended their advantage early in the third quarter. Hardik Singh converted a penalty stroke after Aditya Arjun Lalage was brought down.
Pakistan refused to surrender and Hannan Shahid scored again during the final quarter. His second goal reduced Indiaโs advantage to two goals.
However, India defended effectively during the closing stages. The result ended Pakistanโs World Cup campaign and sent India into the second round.
India will continue their title campaign in the next phase. Meanwhile, Pakistan will compete in the tournamentโs classification phase.
