Pakistan wrestler Mohammad Inam Butt has completed a two-month anti-doping suspension.
He has now been cleared to resume wrestling activities.
The clearance could allow Inam to represent Pakistan at the upcoming Asian Games as a coach.
Suspension Ends on September 18
According to sources familiar with the case, Inam’s suspension began on July 19 and ended on September 18.
The International Testing Agency (ITA) and international wrestling authorities have informed him that he can resume his wrestling duties.
Inam had been suspended after testing positive for a prohibited substance.
Medication Led to Doping Case
Inam told anti-doping authorities that he had taken the substance as part of treatment for an eye condition.
He maintained that the medication was used for legitimate medical reasons.
He also said it was not intended to improve his athletic performance.
Authorities accepted his explanation regarding the medical use of the medication.
However, Inam had not informed the relevant anti-doping officials about the medication within the required timeframe.
Under anti-doping regulations, athletes must properly declare and obtain authorization for prohibited substances used for legitimate medical treatment when required.
The ITA later accepted Inam’s position and allowed him to use the medication for one year.
Asian Beach Games Medal Withdrawn
Despite being cleared to return, Inam has faced a sporting penalty.
His silver medal from the Asian Beach Games has been withdrawn following the anti-doping case.
He won the medal in beach wrestling at the event in China earlier this year.
Inam Returns to Wrestling Duties
Inam had temporarily stepped away from his administrative responsibilities after the doping case emerged.
He serves as secretary of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation.
He also heads the Pakistan Athletes Commission of the Pakistan Olympic Association.
According to sources, he voluntarily stepped away from these roles while the case was under review.
He has now resumed his responsibilities.
Sources said Inam will travel to Japan with Pakistan’s wrestling squad, where he will serve as a coach.
The clearance marks his return to wrestling activities after completing the two-month suspension.
