The sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan has submitted an initial written response to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The response follows a notice issued over remarks made during a recent interview.
Noreen Niazi’s lawyer, Faisal Malik, confirmed the development while speaking to reporters on Monday. The inquiry relates to comments she made regarding Operation Marka-e-Haq.
Legal Team Seeks More Time For Response
Malik said Noreen learned about the NCCIA notice through social media on Monday morning. Subsequently, her legal team submitted a preliminary written reply to the agency.
The defence also requested a copy of any complaint filed against her. Furthermore, it asked the NCCIA to specify the legal provisions under which the notice was issued.
According to Malik, the agency directed Noreen to appear in person on Tuesday. However, her legal team requested four weeks to submit a detailed response.
Malik also said his client respects all state institutions. He added that she believes she would never act in a manner that harms Pakistan’s reputation.
Inquiry Linked To Interview Remarks
The lawyer stated that Noreen would not be able to appear before the NCCIA on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the agency continues its inquiry under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The notice warned that failing to comply could attract legal consequences under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code. It instructed Noreen to record her statement at the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Islamabad.
The inquiry stems from comments made during a YouTube interview. In the interview, Noreen alleged that Operation Marka-e-Haq involved collaboration between the Pakistan armed forces and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She also claimed that Israel influenced regional developments and alleged Pakistan was moving toward recognising Israel under the Abraham Accords. The investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
