PTI chairman Imran Khan once again defeated the ruling alliance — Pakistan Democratic Movement — and emerged victorious in the NA- Kurran By-elections, according to unofficial results.
A tough contest was expected between Imran Khan and JUI-F’s Jamil Khan, who was backed by the PDM.
According to the unofficial final results from all 143 polling stations of NA 45, Imran Khan secured 20,748 votes, while Jamil Khan stood second with 12,718 votes.
Earlier, polling started at 8am and continued till 5pm without any break
In addition to Imran Khan and Jamil Khan, 14 more candidates stood for office.
According to the election commission’s spokesman, there are 198,618 registered voters in the constituency, including 111,349 men and 87,269 women.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Kurram, Arbab Shafiullah, transportation of poll materials had begun after security plans for the NA-45 by-elections were finalised.
He said that 2,100 police officers had been assigned to the polling place.
The DPO has urged political figures and activists to follow the law and work with the police to keep the peace during today’s election.
