Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who is serving a three-year sentence in the Toshakhana case at Attock Jail, was transferred to Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail following the directives of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The Adiala jail superintendent confirmed Imran Khan’s arrival at the prison and stated that security around the facility has been tightened. Imran Khan will receive facilities according to the jail manual.

The IHC had issued its written verdict on Imran Khan’s plea seeking transfer to Adiala Jail, ordering his transfer and setting aside all previous notifications and orders related to his detention in Attock Jail. The court stated that under-trial prisoners (UTPs) from all federal capital courts are kept at Adiala Jail, as Islamabad does not have its own prison.
The court rejected claims of security concerns or inadequate security at Adiala Jail and emphasized that Imran Khan would be entitled to facilities afforded to a better-class prisoner. Regarding the request for an “exercise machine,” the IHC directed Imran Khan to file an application before the Attock jail superintendent.
Additionally, the IHC issued a written verdict on Imran Khan’s plea against the Federal Investigation Agency’s request for in-camera proceedings of his bail plea. The court noted that Imran Khan’s counsel had no objection to excluding unnecessary people from the hearing, but it required the prosecution to file an application for the exclusion of the public from the proceedings.
