The founder and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, recently addressed several pressing issues in an informal conversation with the media. Expressing his support for a recent protest outside the IMF office, Khan clarified that he had no knowledge of any anti-army sloganeering during the demonstration.
During the discussion, which followed a hearing on a reference in Adiala Jail, Imran Khan also commented on various political matters. He expressed his dissatisfaction with Ali Amin Gandapur’s actions, particularly regarding the latter’s photographs with Shehbaz Sharif. Khan voiced concerns over the federal government’s reluctance to allocate funds for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the significant voter turnout for his party in the elections and calling for immediate audits to ensure transparency.
Addressing the country’s economic challenges, Khan emphasized the urgent need for strict reforms and questioned the current government’s effectiveness. He expressed frustration with the state of justice in the country, stating that true justice would not entail attacks on his house followed by requests to forget.
Regarding electoral dynamics, Khan highlighted the substantial support his party received, juxtaposing it with the combined votes of 17 other parties. He stressed the imperative of election audits amid economic difficulties and governance issues.
On the international front, Khan lamented the lack of solidarity from the OIC regarding Palestine, while commending South Africa for its stance. He denied any wrongdoing in the ongoing 190 million pound case, asserting that the funds had been transferred from the Supreme Court to the government.
Reflecting on the nation’s state, Khan underscored the importance of political stability before seeking IMF loans and called for national unity to implement essential reforms. Recounting his experiences in Attock Jail, he described the harsh conditions endured there. When asked about Sheikh Rasheed’s departure from the party, Khan expressed fondness for Rasheed’s contributions and indicated that he would miss his presence.
Finally, Khan stressed the necessity of national reforms, drawing parallels with the transformations of Germany and Japan into strong nations. He reiterated his commitment to steering Pakistan towards prosperity despite the challenges ahead.
