Plea Filed for Urgent Hearing
An application has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing of a chamber appeal linked to PTI founder Imran Khanโs medical treatment petition.
The petition seeks his transfer from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. Advocate Aziz Bhandari filed the miscellaneous application and requested that the chamber appeal be fixed for hearing during the week starting June 22.
Registrarโs Objections Challenged
According to the application, the main petition was earlier filed before the Supreme Court, but the Registrarโs Office raised objections. One objection stated that the petition was not filed through a duly authorized attorney.
A chamber appeal was later filed against these objections. However, the appeal is still pending before the court.
The applicant argued that the objections are no longer effective because a valid power of attorney has now been obtained from the PTI founder.
Medical Treatment Matter Raised
The application stated that Imran Khan granted power of attorney to Advocate-on-Record Javed Masood Tahir Bhatti. It said the power of attorney was signed and confirmed by the Adiala Jail superintendent on May 25.
The plea also mentioned that the PTI founder was taken to PIMS on June 14 for a medical check-up. It claimed that his family was not informed in advance.
The applicant requested the Supreme Court to fix the chamber appeal for hearing next week so the matter of medical treatment can be considered at the earliest.
