Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan met his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail on Tuesday. Authorities arranged the meeting inside the prisonโs conference room.
According to official sources, the meeting lasted for more than thirty minutes. Jail officials allowed the interaction under controlled conditions.
Meanwhile, senior lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar was also granted permission to meet Imran Khan on the same day. His entry was facilitated through Gate No. 5 of the prison.
However, access issues emerged for other visitors. Imran Khanโs family members, including his sisters, arrived for a scheduled meeting. Several PTI leaders also accompanied them.
Despite prior expectations, authorities stopped the group at the Marble Factory checkpoint. Security officials did not allow them to proceed further toward the jail.
Those present included Barrister Gohar, Latif Khosa, Salman Akram Raja, Shaukat Basra, Qasim Khan, Naeem Haider Panjotha, and Fatahullah Burki. The group waited for clearance but received none.
As a result, Imran Khanโs sisters and party workers staged a sit-in at the checkpoint. The protest continued for more than five hours.
During the sit-in, participants demanded access to the former prime minister. They described the restriction as unjustified.
Later, the protest ended peacefully. Participants dispersed after authorities maintained their decision.
In contrast, Barrister Salman Safdar was permitted to enter the jail. Officials allowed him access through Gate No. 5.
Bushra Bibiโs family members also received permission to enter through the same gate. Jail authorities coordinated their entry separately.
Sources confirmed that the meeting between Imran Khan and Barrister Safdar lasted nearly three hours. The discussion focused on legal matters.
After completing the meeting, the lawyer exited the prison without incident. No official statement followed the visit.
Overall, the developments highlighted continued access challenges surrounding Imran Khanโs incarceration. The situation remains closely watched by party members and supporters.
