LAHORE: According to reports, Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar resigned under pressure from the party’s leadership because PTI Chairman Imran Khan wasn’t pleased with him.
Dogar claimed personal reasons for leaving his position, although reports indicate things were far from ideal within the party.
His claim that the Punjab government would not support Imran Khan’s proposal for a long march to Islamabad drew criticism from PTI leaders, and the comments also drew a stern rebuke from Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.
Geo News anchorperson Hamid Mir revealed behind-the-scenes information, saying that he discovered Imran Khan had accepted Col. (Ret.) Hashim Dogar’s resignation was because he was dissatisfied with the departing minister.
Mir stated that Imran Khan called Dogar and requested his resignation.
The anchorperson stated that the PTI chairman had been receiving information about Dogar, whether correct or incorrect.
“Imran was told that Dogar belongs to the unit of a senior officer of the establishment and frequently meets him,” Mir said, adding that Dogar played no role in preventing the transfer of containers to Islamabad to obstruct the PTI’s long march.
Mir stated that Dogar agreed that the Punjab government would protect the long march but would not participate in it.
