ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has affirmed the validity of the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) results from November 2022 until 2024.
The decision was rendered by IHC judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb in response to a petition challenging a public notice issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on July 14, 2023.
The petitioner, Laiba Rauf, successfully passed the MDCAT in November 2022, and during that period, the result was deemed valid for two years. The contested notice, however, asserted that an applicant could not secure admission in 2023 based on the MDCAT cleared in 2022.
Contrary to this notice, the court pointed out that, as per the 2021 regulations, the November 2022 results were recognized as valid for a two-year duration.
The court emphasized that a subsequent administrative decision cannot revoke the petitioner’s entitlement and ruled that the MDCAT result from November 2022 for Laiba Rauf remains valid until November 2024.
Additionally, the court directed that the expenses incurred by the petitioner in pursuing the case would be borne by the PMDC.
PTI To Contest ECPโs Decision On Intra-Party Polls In PHC
In another development, Barrister Gohar Khan, who secured an uncontested victory as PTI chairman in the now-nullified intra-party polls, has declared his intent to challenge the Election Commission of Pakistanโs (ECP) verdict in the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

On Friday, Khan revealed the partyโs plan to submit a petition to the PHC, seeking to overturn the ECPโs decision once the certified order is received.
Leaders of PTI reportedly arrived at the Peshawar High Court on Saturday, anticipating potential objections due to the lack of a certified copy of the ECPโs decision.
The party asserted that the ECPโs ruling, declaring PTIโs intra-party elections invalid and denying them the bat symbol for the upcoming general election, was part of what they termed the โfamous London Plan.โ
In response to the ECPโs decision, PTI accused the oversight body of bias, alleging that it was a deliberate attempt to hinder the partyโs electoral prospects. The party contended that the move was orchestrated to impedeย PTI from participating in the election process.
