The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer who ordered the offloading of a citizen travelling to Malaysia. The court has also directed the FIA to submit its response at the next hearing.
Justice Ayaz Shaukat issued the written order while hearing a petition filed by citizen Muhammad Saad. The petitioner challenged the decision to stop him from travelling abroad despite having the required travel documents.
Citizen Claims He Had Valid Visa and Return Ticket
According to the petition, Muhammad Saad was travelling to Malaysia and possessed a valid Malaysian visa along with a return ticket.
His lawyer told the court that all necessary documents for travelling abroad were complete. Despite this, FIA officials stopped the passenger from boarding and ordered his offloading.
The petitioner has asked the Islamabad High Court to declare the offloading unlawful and provide appropriate relief.
FIA Officer Ordered to Appear Before Court
In its written order, the IHC directed the FIA to submit its comments on the petition before the next hearing.
The court specifically ordered that the FIA officer or shift in-charge who issued the offloading order on August 12 must personally appear before the court.
The court will examine the circumstances surrounding the passenger’s offloading and seek an explanation from the concerned FIA official.
The Islamabad High Court has adjourned further proceedings until September 4, when the matter will be taken up again.
