Pakistani actor and comedian Iftikhar Thakur has paid an emotional tribute to late stage artist Asif Iqbal, recalling his kindness and dedication to helping others despite serious health problems. Speaking in an interview, Thakur said worldly wealth, children and possessions eventually remain behind, while a person’s actions define their true legacy.
He urged audiences to follow the teachings of Allah and the Holy Prophet, emphasizing that spiritual values matter more than worldly achievements. Remembering Asif, he described him as loyal and compassionate, saying he always supported people during difficult times.
Asif Iqbal Remembered For His Kindness
Thakur said Asif continued helping others despite suffering two heart attacks. He also prayed that Allah grant the late comedian a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and reward him for his good deeds.
The veteran comedian expressed confidence that Asif would have reasons to smile when he appears before Allah because of the support he offered others. His remarks highlighted the late artist’s generosity and concern for people around him.
Asif Iqbal Leaves Behind Theatre Legacy
Asif Iqbal, also known as Asif Iqbal Butt or “Phena Ji,” died in Lahore at 60 on September 19, 2026, after suffering a heart attack. Originally from Gujranwala, he entered theatre with support from Sohail Ahmed and gained recognition for his spontaneous humour and sharp dialogue delivery.
He performed extensively in private commercial theatre and at Alhamra Arts Council alongside artists including Mastana, Baboo Baral, Amanat Chan, Nasir Chinyoti and Naseem Vicky. Meanwhile, Iftikhar Thakur remains a veteran actor, comedian, director and television host who received the Pride of Performance in 2019.
