Educational and Professional Background
Born in 1971 in Istanbul, Kalın studied History at Istanbul University. Later, he earned a master’s degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He completed his Ph.D. at George Washington University in 2002. In 2005, he founded the SETA Foundation, an influential policy think tank. Then, in 2014, he became the Presidential Spokesperson and continued shaping Turkey’s foreign policy approach.

Kalın has mediated in several international conflicts. He helped reduce tensions between Türkiye and Russia during difficult moments. Additionally, he supported talks in the Qatar-UAE standoff. Recently, he took part in ceasefire efforts in Gaza and guided discussions on Syria. Turkish media say President Erdoğan fully trusts Kalın.
