MANSEHRA: Police arrested a man in Mansehra after he killed his wife and staged her death as an accidental fall from a mountain.
The incident occurred in Manoor Valley of Balakot tehsil, where police said the accused stoned his wife to death.
According to police, the couple had eloped and married around 10 months ago.
The suspect allegedly took his wife to the mountainous area in Kaghan on August 12, claiming they were going on a recreational trip.
However, police said he allegedly attacked her with stones and killed her during the visit.
Afterward, the suspect allegedly threw her body into a ditch to make the death appear accidental.
Initially, police suspected foul play because the circumstances surrounding the womanโs death appeared suspicious.
Furthermore, investigators said the accused completed the burial rituals soon after the incident in an attempt to conceal the alleged crime.
Police later traced the suspect and arrested him in connection with the case.
The accused appeared before a Balakot court, which sent him on judicial remand following his alleged confession.
Meanwhile, the victimโs brother filed a first information report against the suspect.
He alleged that his sister had married the accused against their familyโs wishes.
The brother further alleged that the accused recently married his former fiancรฉe and killed his sister to remove her from his life.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
