The Punjab government has launched the second phase of its Chief Minister’s Climate Leadership Internship Programme. The initiative offers graduates practical environmental experience with a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000. Moreover, the three-month programme has opened online applications across Punjab.
Officials expect the initiative to strengthen environmental governance through trained young professionals. The Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department announced the latest application process.
Eligibility Criteria and Female Quota
The programme aims to prepare future Climate Warriors with practical knowledge and professional skills. Furthermore, participants will learn environmental policy, governance, and sustainable development practices.
Authorities have reserved 50 percent of available internship positions for women. This measure encourages greater female participation in environmental and climate-related careers.
Applicants must be between 20 and 27 years old before applying. They also need a bachelor’s degree with at least 75 percent marks. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
Graduates from various academic backgrounds can submit applications under the programme. Therefore, eligible students from multiple disciplines can compete for available placements.
Training, Stipend and Application Process
Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000 throughout the programme. Additionally, participants will complete field assignments under experienced environmental professionals.
They will also visit Environment Protection Agency offices during practical training sessions. The programme includes mentorship opportunities and capstone projects to improve professional skills.
Consequently, interns will gain valuable exposure to environmental governance and policy implementation. Officials believe the experience will prepare graduates for future climate leadership roles.
Interested applicants must complete online registration through the official Punjab EPA portal. The application deadline is July 18, 2026. Therefore, eligible graduates should submit their applications before the closing date. Authorities encourage qualified candidates to apply early and avoid last-minute delays.
