The Punjab government has announced the Electric Bike Scheme 2026 to improve student transportation across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveiled the initiative, with female students receiving free electric bikes while male students can purchase them through interest-free installments.
The government plans to distribute 100,000 electric bikes under the program. Moreover, the initiative aims to make travel safer, easier, and more affordable for college and university students while promoting environmentally friendly transportation.
Maryam Nawaz introduced the scheme during a ceremony in Arifwala. She said the project would support students, particularly female students, by reducing transportation challenges and encouraging greater access to education.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Additionally, some official guidelines mention an upper age limit of 35 years.
Applicants must also be enrolled in a degree college or university recognized by the Higher Education Commission. Furthermore, they must hold a valid Punjab domicile.
Students need either a valid motorcycle driving license or a learner’s driving permit before applying. They must not own any registered motor vehicle. Moreover, only one electric bike will be allocated to each eligible family.
Applications will be accepted exclusively through the official Punjab government portal. Students must register using their CNIC, student details, and contact information before completing the online application form.
Applicants must upload the required documents and submit their forms online. Afterwards, authorities will verify applications through a computerized balloting process. Students can also track their application status on the official portal.
Required documents include a CNIC or B-Form, student identity card, Punjab domicile certificate, and a motorcycle driving license or learner’s permit. Authorities may also request a bonafide certificate, passport-sized photographs, or additional family information.
Selected students may receive vehicle insurance, solar charging support, and online application tracking. Meanwhile, officials have advised applicants to avoid unofficial websites or agents claiming guaranteed approval. The government has also established official online and helpline support for application-related assistance.
