A leisure trip turned into a life-threatening incident in Naran after a vehicle carrying five tourists was swept away by the strong currents of the River Kunhar while they were attempting to film a video.
According to police, the group drove their vehicle into the river for filming purposes when the powerful current carried it away.
A swift rescue operation by trained emergency teams saved all five tourists, who were safely pulled from the river. The rescued individuals were identified as residents of Sheikhupura.
Rescue officials, assisted by a trained rafting team, used a rescue boat to recover the young men from the water near the Dhamdama area, where the vehicle was swept away.
Authorities said efforts to recover the submerged vehicle are continuing. SP Balakot said the vehicle could not be retrieved during the night because of poor visibility, and the operation would resume in daylight.
DSP Sadaqat Khan confirmed that rescue teams remain engaged in recovering the vehicle from the river.
Following the incident, the local administration urged tourists to avoid driving vehicles near or into the River Kunhar, warning that water levels and currents can rise suddenly, creating life-threatening conditions.
